Scrolling Around

When I meet new people, as I often do on a daily basis, I usually interface with the content displayed in their windows.  Are they smiling, or do they not want to make eye contact?  Are they dressed in golf attire or
business casual?  Unlike a typical window (in tech terms), a person doesn’t have a title bar along the top that
describes the contents of the window, or a toolbar.  Although many times, it would be helpful to be able to access the Review tab and highlight a comment for Research or Translate.  What exactly did he mean by that statement? Or another interesting option would be to Track the changes made in our conversation to see which comments were Rejected or Accepted.  I’m amused just thinking about this scenario.

However, what I’ve found most interesting is scrolling around - moving outside the window display.  According to PC.net, "most computer programs display their content within a window, but windows are often not large enough to display their entire content at once. Therefore, you may have to scroll through the window to view all the contents." This is definitely true with people. You have to scroll around, for there is much more content available.

Obviously, I’m not talking about only physical appearance, but in dialogue and many kinds of communication and expression.  Scrolling is an active search.  A topic of conversation may be interesting, but going to the edge of that topic may be even more so.  This takes scrolling to the left or right as far as possible.  Scrolling down and diving into implications, which is often alluring in conversation, can pull you far out over your head.  Remember to scroll
parallel to the topic if this happens.

All play aside, exploring and developing communication with others is at the core of who we are. This goes without saying from our history to current day.  Look at the numerous devices we have to stay connected and social media sites.  What becomes even more valuable is scrolling for self-content.  What isn’t in the display?  What more can we access?  My sense is that there are pages and pages of content yet to be scrolled.  Those examining left and right, up and down, as well as outside and inside, and probably directions that have yet to be named.

As always, there’s much more to Search.  Join me.
